Calvin Chua Cheng Koon (b. 1961, Kedah) is a respected Malaysian artist and one of the country’s leading watercolour practitioners. He studied Fine Art at the Kuala Lumpur College of Art and has worked professionally for more than three decades. A recipient of the Malaysian Young Contemporaries Award in 1986 and the Yayasan Seni Selangor Award in 2009, he is also Chairman of the Malaysian Watercolour Society. His works are recognised for their expressive brushwork, tropical subjects and confident use of colour.

Two children crawl and splash across the ground with bright smiles, their playful movements capturing the carefree spirit of childhood. Their lively expressions and energetic poses create an immediate feeling of happiness, friendship and shared adventure.
Vibrant washes of yellow, pink, blue, green and violet flow freely around the figures. Loose brushstrokes, layered pigments and spontaneous splashes give the painting a wonderful sense of motion, while the softer background allows the children to remain the joyful focus of the composition.

Two graceful figures move together across the paper, their gestures suggesting a quiet exchange or a shared journey. Drawn with delicate, flowing lines, their forms feel spontaneous and alive, capturing movement without relying on heavy detail.
Soft washes of green, blue, purple, gold and earthy brown drift around the figures, creating an airy and dreamlike atmosphere. Areas of untouched paper provide breathing space, while splashes, drips and loosely layered pigments give the composition a fresh, expressive rhythm.
We warmly invite collectors and art lovers to visit our gallery and experience the luminous colours, fluid brushwork and delicate textures of these original watercolours in person.
