Born in Selangor in 1963, Haron Mokhtar is a respected Malaysian artist known for documenting traditional architecture, cultural identity and memories of everyday life.
He graduated in Fine Art, specialising in Painting and Printmaking, from UiTM in 1987. In the same year, he received the Major Award in the Young Contemporary Artists competition. His distinctive compositions often place heritage buildings above familiar people or objects, separated by a quiet field of colour.
