Whispers Beneath Still Water by Meor

This powerful monochrome painting by Meor captures the quiet intensity of an Arowana gliding through darkness. Rendered with striking realism, the fish appears suspended in still water — alert, solitary, and dignified.

The absence of colour amplifies the emotional weight of the piece. Light gently caresses the scales, fins, and eyes, revealing texture and movement against a deep, atmospheric background. The composition feels meditative, almost spiritual, inviting the viewer to slow down and observe the beauty of restraint and silence.

《Dreams in a Crystal World》by Shafiq Nordin

This striking painting by Shafiq Nordin feels like a vision captured inside a crystal ball — surreal, playful, and slightly unsettling in the most fascinating way.

At the center, an organic, tree-like form merges with mythical elements: a dragon’s head, flowing flames, blooming flowers, and whimsical cloud figures. The imagery seems to float in a dreamscape, where reality dissolves into fantasy. Every element feels alive, animated by movement and emotion, inviting viewers to interpret their own stories within the scene.

The circular composition reinforces the idea of an enclosed universe — a world of imagination, subconscious thoughts, and symbolic creatures coexisting in harmony.

“Layers of Silence, Echoes of Time” by Tajuddin Ismail

Tajuddin Ismail is known for his expressive abstract language, often exploring inner landscapes rather than literal forms. His works reflect a deep sensitivity to rhythm, balance, and texture, drawing viewers into a contemplative state. Through layering, mark-making, and restrained colour palettes punctuated by bold accents, Wonder invites collectors to experience painting not just visually, but emotionally—each piece becoming a space for personal reflection.

This striking abstract work by Tajuddin Ismail unfolds like a visual dialogue between memory, emotion, and structure. At first glance, the composition feels raw and instinctive; linger a little longer, and its layers begin to speak.

The painting is built through bold blocks of colour—earthy ochres, deep blacks, muted creams, and sudden bursts of red and yellow—interwoven with scratched lines, circular marks, and textured surfaces. Wonder’s strokes move freely between control and release: heavy, grounded areas contrast with spontaneous scribbles and semi-transparent overlays. This tension gives the work its energy, as if order and chaos are negotiating space on the same plane.

Circles and geometric fragments recur subtly, acting like visual anchors amid the expressive surface. They hint at cycles, time, and human presence, while the distressed textures suggest layers of lived experience—paint applied, erased, and reapplied, leaving behind traces of earlier decisions. The result is a composition that feels introspective yet universal, quiet yet emotionally charged.

To truly appreciate the depth, texture, and presence of this work, it deserves to be seen in person. “Quiet Gesture” by Khoo Sui Hoe

Khoo Sui Hoe is one of Malaysia’s most respected modern artists, known for his distinct figurative abstraction and poetic use of colour. His works often explore themes of human emotion, memory, and spiritual reflection, rendered through simplified forms and expressive yet controlled brushwork. Over the decades, his paintings have become highly regarded by collectors for their timeless quality and emotional depth.

This evocative work by Khoo Sui Hoe reflects his signature balance between simplicity, emotion, and symbolism.

The composition centres on a serene, stylised figure framed within a bold geometric border. Khoo’s brushstrokes are soft yet deliberate, with visible layering that gives the surface a gentle, tactile presence rather than a polished finish. The lines are minimal — especially in the facial features — allowing silence and restraint to speak louder than detail.

Colour plays a crucial role in the painting’s emotional tone.

  • Warm yellows form a radiating frame, creating a sense of protection, light, and inner warmth.
  • The muted purples and earthy skin tones within the central figure evoke introspection and calm.
  • Subtle accents of turquoise and blue add rhythm and quiet movement, guiding the viewer’s eye without disrupting the overall stillness.

The raised hand gesture feels intimate and contemplative — not dramatic, but quietly expressive — inviting the viewer into a personal, inward moment. This restrained visual language is characteristic of Khoo Sui Hoe’s approach, where emotion is suggested rather than declared.

This artwork is available for viewing at PRO ART & FRAME.

“Echoes of Form & Memory” by Awang Damit

Awang Damit is a Malaysian contemporary artist known for his expressive abstract language and textured surfaces. His works often revolve around themes of memory, identity, environment, and emotional states, translated through strong gestural marks and layered compositions.

the blue acts as a pause — a moment of clarity — amidst heavier, more textured surroundings

earthy browns, ash greys, and muted ochres dominate the surface feels architectural yet fragmented

His brushwork is raw, expressive, and layered :-

  • Broad, forceful strokes
  • Scraped textures
  • Areas of thick impasto alongside worn, almost eroded surfaces

The paintings are built gradually, allowing marks to overlap and partially conceal one another — much like memories layered over time. Each surface carries a sense of weight, silence, and reflection.

“In Her Embrace” on Batik by Dato Chuah Thean Teng

This work represents a rare and highly sought-after period in the batik practice of Dato’ Chuah Thean Teng, a pioneer who elevated batik from craft into the realm of fine art and placed Malaysian batik on the international stage.

At the centre, a mother kneels gently, cradling one child while another leans against her shoulder. Her eyes are closed, not in detachment, but in calm endurance — a visual metaphor for the emotional weight and tenderness of maternal responsibility. The children’s relaxed, trusting postures reinforce a sense of safety, warmth, and unconditional love.

The decorative motifs and stylised forms echo Malay cultural aesthetics, while remaining universal in emotion. This balance between local identity and timeless human values is what makes Chuah Thean Teng’s works so powerful and widely admired.

If you’d like to experience more original batik works and important Malaysian art pieces like this, we warmly invite collectors and art lovers to view them in person at PRO ART & FRAME, where heritage, craftsmanship, and storytelling come together.

“When Memories Ask for a Second Chance”

Restoration isn’t just about repairing damage; it’s about respecting history and giving art a new life.

At PRO ART & FRAME, we believe every artwork carries emotion, memory, and meaning. Our framer, with over 20 years of experience, carefully studied the piece — the texture of the canvas, the strokes, and the signs of aging. With delicate hands and professional care, we began a process not just of restoration, but of reviving its soul.

Art touch-up may look simple, but behind every brushstroke lies a challenge only experience can handle.

Unlike repainting, art touch-up is about respect — preserving the artist’s original tone, texture, and emotion. Every pigment must be blended seamlessly to match the exact colour tone, light balance, and brush rhythm of the original artist. Even a slight difference in hue or direction of stroke can change the mood of the whole painting.

It takes a trained eye and steady hand — guided by over 20 years of framing and art-handling experience — to restore without overdoing, to heal without rewriting.

Art touch-up isn’t just technical work; it’s a form of dialogue with the original artist — understanding their method, their pressure, their pace.

At PRO ART & FRAME, we approach every restoration and touch-up with the same dedication we give to framing: patience, precision, and passion.

Where Art Lives — and Lives On.

Windows of Memory: Stories from a Small House” by Ng Chi Ling

This charming series by Ng Chi Ling invites viewers into the quiet poetry of Malaysian heritage homes — spaces where time seems to breathe gently through pastel shutters, flowering trees, and warm glowing interiors.

Each painting captures a small yet deeply evocative façade, framed by leafy branches and blooming foliage. The artist’s meticulous attention to the weathered shutters, patterned curtains, and handcrafted lamps reveals a world rich with nostalgia — a reminder of evenings spent near windows, the scent of home-cooked meals, and conversations carried in the breeze.

Ng Chi Ling’s style feels intimate and personal. His strokes are crisp yet tender, allowing textures of aged wood, clay roof tiles, and sun-kissed leaves to emerge with remarkable clarity. The play of colours — lilac purples, mint greens, sky blues, buttery yellows, and blushing pinks — infuses each scene with personality and charm, turning these windows into storytellers of a life once lived, or still lovingly remembered.

Where heritage, artistry, and fine framing meet.

“Circle of Serenity: Guardians of the Sun” by Tang Hong Lee

This captivating painting by Tang Hong Lee draws the viewer into a celestial vortex of colour, movement, and symbolism. At the heart of the composition lies a radiant golden sun, glowing with calm yet commanding energy. Encircling it is a rhythmic formation of goldfish – an emblem of prosperity, abundance, and harmonious flow. The artist masterfully arranges the fish in a perfect orbit, suggesting time, balance, and the eternal cycle of life.

The swirling layers of blue resemble both the depths of the ocean and the expanses of the sky, creating a dreamlike dimension where earth, water, and heaven converge. The edges of the canvas are adorned with whimsical village scenes, trees, and lantern-like elements, a signature touch that injects nostalgia and childlike wonder into the piece. Tang Hong Lee’s brushwork is smooth and contemplative, with gradient transitions that pull the viewer into the centre, almost like a meditative portal.

The painting invites reflection on serenity, continuity, and the unseen forces that guide our journeys. It is both uplifting and hypnotic, making it an outstanding centrepiece for any collector who values symbolism, colour harmony, and narrative depth.

🔸 Unmasking the Emotions — The Mask Series by the Late Kamaruddin Kamali 🔸

The late Kamaruddin Kamali carved a unique artistic identity through his hauntingly expressive Mask Series, a body of work that explores the layers of human emotions hidden beneath the faces we present to the world. His artworks are not literal portraits — they are psychological landscapes, abstract expressions of identity, memory, and silent struggles.

Kamaruddin’s style blurs the boundaries between figuration and abstraction. His masks are built from fragmented brushstrokes, textured overlays, and instinctive gestures that reveal rather than conceal. Key elements of his visual language include:

Bold, raw strokes that suggest emotion more than detail
🔥 Earthy tones blended with sharp accents of red, blue, and yellow—colours that symbolize conflict, spirit, and inner light
🌀 Layered compositions that feel like memories surfacing from darkness
👁 Eyes rendered with depth and intensity, acting as the gateway to the soul
🌑 Dark atmospheric backgrounds, amplifying mystery and introspection

Each mask feels alive — sometimes distorted, sometimes calm — yet always human, capturing the silent battles people wear behind their faces.

These rare pieces by the late master are now available for viewing and acquisition exclusively at:
