Lim Ah Cheng was born in Klang, Malaysia in 1968. He graduate with diploma in advertising & graphic design in 1992 at Malaysia Institute of Art, Kuala Lumpur. He worked in the advertisement industry over a couple years and become a full time artist until present. Besides, he learnt chinese calligraphy art with Mr Chong Chen Chuan, Chairman of Calligraphy. Lim Ah Cheng has been in art industry and drawing more than 30 years. He has his own first solo exhibition during the year 2002 with title “Challenging Horses” (1996-2002), at Elle Six Gallery, Kuala Lumpur.

Drawing style of Lim Ah Cheng is abstract art, horses is one of his favourite to illustrate using oil or acrylic on the canvas. Lim Ah Cheng usually do his paintings on big size canvas to show the spirit and boldness of the horses. His art is an assimilation of traditional East with the modern West, with the chinese calligraphy strokes and combination of oil and acrylics, musicians orchestra, dancers and street scenes also his theme to illustrate. “Horses run fast and show movement just like Chinese ink brushstrokes express speed. Therefore, I am trying to combine these two identities in my artworks, follow my soul and feeling, and strong Chinese art foundation skills.” said Lim.
