Soon Lai Wai is a Malaysian artist known for his expressive and atmospheric paintings inspired by nature, particularly his distinctive Lotus Series. His works combine vibrant colours, energetic brushwork and layered textures, transforming familiar natural subjects into compositions filled with movement and emotion.
Through lotus blossoms, foliage and graceful birds, Soon celebrates beauty, renewal and harmony with nature, creating works that feel both contemporary and poetic.
This vibrant composition brings together lotus blossoms, lush foliage and graceful birds in an energetic contemporary interpretation of nature. Layers of turquoise, cobalt blue, emerald green, coral and warm earth tones flow through the canvas, while the softer lotus blooms emerge beautifully from the expressive brushwork.
The lotus naturally brings associations of renewal, resilience and beauty, making this an uplifting work to live with. Its vertical composition and rich palette would create a striking focal point in a living room, entrance foyer, dining area or contemporary office.
翠盖摇风映碧穹，
芳荷灼灼醉秋红。
双鹤不语立清浅，
静听荷语和溪东。
Green lotus leaves beneath the azure sky,
Blossoms burn bright in autumn’s glowing dye.
Two storks stand silent by the pools,
Still face, hearing flowers whisper as the waters flow.
The two graceful birds standing side by side bring a beautiful sense of companionship, harmony and abundance to the painting. Surrounded by rich blues and greens, their quiet presence creates a feeling of balance amid the expressive movement of nature.
