
BORN 1944, PAHANG.
Yap Hong Ngee received secondary education at the Confucian High School, Kuala Lumpur, subsequently furthering his studies in Japan. There, he majored in Japanese Arts in the Tokyo Arts University and thereafter Japanese Arts History and Physical Engineering in Waseda University, spending eight years altogether in the land of the rising sun, from 1966 to 1972.
Yap is famous for his water colour paintings on various topics, particularly those of sparrows (his favourite symbol) and peony flowers (or Mou Tan s they are more affectionately known).
