
Lee Eng Beng, born in Penang, Malaysia, in 1967, is a self-taught artist renowned for his exceptional watercolor paintings, particularly of urban heritage buildings and street scenes. Over his career spanning more than two decades, Lee has been recognized as one of Malaysia’s most accomplished watercolorists. His artworks have been showcased internationally in countries such as Taiwan, Japan, Korea, China, and Singapore, as well as in various local exhibitions.
Lee’s paintings are inspired by his life experiences and childhood memories, often depicting daily activities and leisure moments of people, capturing the essence of Malaysian culture and heritage. He enjoys observing the daily lives of people, including their normal and leisure activities, and uses his art to convey these stories.
In addition to his exhibitions, Lee has received several awards, including the Young Artist Award at the Penang Museum Annual Art Exhibition and First Prize at the Malaysian Watercolour Painting Competition organized by the Teochew Association in 1994.
