Born : Kuala Lumpur. 1961.
His works, often described as impressionistic yet deeply Malaysian, capture the beauty of our landscapes, kampung life, fishing villages, bougainvillea blooms, and cityscapes like Kuala Lumpur’s skyline. Known as the “Heliconia Man”, Yap paints both in the studio and en plein air, seeking to express the rhythm of light, movement, and nature.
Over the years, his paintings have been exhibited and sold in auctions locally and abroad, making his works cherished by both collectors and art lovers. Today, Yap continues to bring Malaysian scenery to life with vibrant energy, thick textures, and timeless storytelling.
